The young Victor Hasselblad often spent the evenings with his binoculars up in the high tower of the house. Below him by the quay were the large sailing ships of the late 19th century. When the boy swept his eyes across the starry sky, he could not have imagined that he would one day create the world's foremost camera brand. One of the cameras would also take the very first picture of the globe. The old tower room remains, just like the starry sky, but the fifth floor of the house now houses a surprisingly large and bright multi-storey apartment that has more to do with the future than turn-of-the-century Gothenburg. The floor of 335 sqm is completely unique in its kind and strongly characterized by an international atmosphere that immediately brings to mind one of the world metropolises. The environment feels almost cinematic with its extensive light, extensive floor surfaces and sometimes significant ceiling height. The interior is characterized by an ever-present transparency thanks to the open floor plan and the large glass sections, not to mention the cascades of light that fall in from the many skylights. The largest of the floor's six rooms is the magnificent living areas of 160 sqm in open plan with the kitchen. Adjacent to these areas is a beautiful conservatory with access to a larger semicircular balcony. The view of the river and the inner city is almost magical, not least from the upper floor bedroom and large roof terrace. Master Bedroom is a suite with a veritable spa facility with Japanese inspiration and extremely tasteful materials. Two of the bedrooms have private bathrooms in white marble. Elements of equally pure and exclusive natural materials such as limestone, teak, slate and more are noticeable. And the contemporary design of everything from architectural lines and equipment to the smallest details should of course be highlighted. But it is, after all, the floor's rare light and bright atmosphere that makes the biggest impression. The thoughts immediately go to international gallery or studio interiors. Perhaps the biggest surprise, however, is the floor's dramatic tower room with impressive height to the dome roof and recreated in its former turn-of-the-century splendor in collaboration with the National Heritage Board. The magnificent corner house on Östra Hamngatan 3 is one of the city's more well-known residential palaces, located on the quay diagonally opposite the Gothenburg Opera. The so-called Hasselbladska house was the company's head office for over a hundred years. The house was completed in 1877. Hasselblad & Co's department store and office - they sold furnishings and hats, among other things - moved into the property and lived on the lower floors. The upper floor of the house consisted of larger floors that already then belonged to the most attractive homes in the city. When his son Victor Hasselblad eventually started his world-famous camera production, an era began that lasted until the turn of the millennium when another 250 people worked for Hasselblad in the neighborhood. The property was designed by architect AC Petersson and this was one of his first buildings in the city. He would be very noticeable, including as SJ's chief architect and as the creator of several turn-of-the-century palaces in Vasastaden and Lorensberg. The architectural style is the neo-renaissance. As the name implies, this style in the late 19th century was inspired by Renaissance art and architecture in the 15th and 17th centuries where forms and motifs were taken. The house's facade carries the flow's unmistakable features of both the pompous and the strict, combined with rich ornaments both exterior and interior. In 2006-2008, the Hasselbladska house was restored, which resulted in 24 exclusive apartments. The extensive project was led by building antiquarian Victoria Ask and architect Johan Casselbrant. By succeeding in recreating the former splendor and taking care of the house's inherent soul and details, the project has attracted a lot of attention. Not least when it comes to the re-creation of many details such as the beautiful ceiling paintings and characteristic panel parapets in dark wood. The location next to the Gothenburg Opera and the absolute proximity to most things in the inner city do not require a deeper explanation. With a window open, you can hear the mast stays in the guest harbor beating in the evening breeze. A few minutes walk in the other direction takes you to the life of the people on Avenyn. The floor has continuous underfloor heating, mostly waterborne. Two basement storage rooms belong and a garage space is available for rent. The floor is equipped with a programmable lighting system. You can choose which light sources are to be switched on or off via a control. The luminaires in all rooms except the tower consist of ceiling and floor spotlights. The living room's pillars have so-called uplighters and the spa department has fiber lighting.
